JFA Yachts launches new 50m aluminium Explorer in Concarneau

Brittany-based JFA Yachts has launched its new 50-metre Explorer motor yacht, a fully custom-built vessel that marks a milestone for the shipyard and precedes sea trials ahead of delivery to its owner.

Designed by Humphreys Yacht Design, the yacht features an optimized fast-displacement hull, lightweight aluminium construction, and a glass-epoxy composite superstructure, lowering the centre of gravity. Stabilizing fins and a gyroscopic stabilizer ensure comfort even in challenging sea conditions.

Its parallel hybrid propulsion system, powered by MTU diesel engines and electric motors, allows silent, zero-emission operation at anchor or low speeds. Solar panels, a high-capacity battery bank, and a dynamic positioning system further enhance efficiency and make the yacht ideal for worldwide exploration.

Following the launch, harbour and sea trials will commence in Concarneau ahead of final delivery.

This launch represents a new milestone for JFA Yachts, showcasing our expertise in aluminium, composite materials, and state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion”, says Frédéric Jaouen, President of JFA Yachts.
