Sirena Superyachts 42M flagship enters final outfitting phase ahead of July launch

Turkish shipyard Sirena Marine has released its latest construction update on the 42-meter Sirena Superyachts 42M, confirming the project has entered its final outfitting and finishing phase ahead of its scheduled launch in the first two weeks of July 2026.

With the build now in its most advanced stage, work is progressing simultaneously across multiple areas of the yacht. Interior outfitting is well underway, with furniture installation ongoing across all decks as the yacht’s accommodation spaces begin to take their final form.

On the exterior, the hull has reached a critical milestone in the finishing process. The final primer application on the hull has been completed, and the yacht is currently undergoing detailed sanding, inspections, and cleaning. The topcoat application is now also underway as part of this phase, representing one of the final steps toward achieving the yacht’s finished exterior appearance.

Significant progress has also been made on the technical front. The main engine, along with key propulsion system components, has been successfully installed. Final alignment adjustments and chockfast pouring are in progress to ensure optimal performance and precision ahead of commissioning.

The engine room is now approximately 85% complete, with the majority of equipment already installed and integration works largely finalized. This milestone reflects the overall pace and coordination of the build as systems near full completion.

As construction progresses, the Sirena Superyachts 42M continues to demonstrate the project’s scale and ambition. Designed by Luca Vallebona in collaboration with Hot Lab (part of the Viken Group), for the interior design with naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects and detailed engineering by Eureka Yachts, the 42M combines a high-volume platform of approximately 433 GT with efficient engineering and a design focused on onboard comfort and connection to the sea.

With final outfitting, system integration, and exterior finishing now underway, the Sirena Superyachts 42M remains firmly on track for its summer 2026 debut, representing a major milestone for Sirena Marine as it prepares to launch its largest and most advanced yacht to date.

SX120 blends pioneering technology and the latest in nautical design. She embodies Sanlorenzo’s commitment to both the evolution of its products and innovation, and she is the first composite-built yacht to feature the IPS Professional Platform by Volvo Penta

1822. With their boats, Bolivar and Don Juan, the poets Byron and Shelley were perhaps amongst the first to promote the concept of yachting for pleasure and the idea of wandering around at sea. They might also have been pioneers of on-board comfort. The former’s boat measured 24 feet, and the latter’s was just over 30 – yet, in Byron’s words, “sufficiently spacious to accommodate everybody comfortably” – but they nevertheless sailed around, between Genoa, La Spezia and Viareggio, enjoying a feeling of luxury, of exclusivity, even if only in terms of the time they had available.

2025. Two hundred and three years later, in places where there was once poetry and significant challenges, we find the same spirit, but with new owners and shipbuilders. They continue to build, inviting designers and architects to find new solutions for new requirements through prose, poetry, culture and skill. The boats are 120 feet long, have three usable decks and a sundeck, and are powered by four 1,000-horsepower engines driving two Volvo IPS Professional Platform pods. There are also at least four double VIP cabins to accommodate everyone comfortably.

The lounge on the main deck is bathed in natural light through
the large windows, where guests’ attention is drawn to a sculptural staircase that enhances the environment and, at the same time, serves as a functional solution, allowing a smooth connection between the decks.

The new Sanlorenzo SX120, the flagship of the brand’s crossover range, is all that and more besides. “The SX120 has changed the way in which yachting was conceived, and redefined the experience of life on board, introducing a new idea of space, liveability and connection with the sea”, says Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo. These days, as well as sustainability, comfort and performance, there is also a call for sensitivity, as a social commitment to reach the conscience of people who do the design, and thus break into the view of somebody else who will always be found on shore just looking, since “architecture belongs to those who look at it” (B. Zevi).

The interiors are enriched with many pieces that have made Italian design history, such as the Donzelletta chair by DePadova, designed by Michele De Lucchi. The frame is made of solid black ash wood, and the seat is woven straw. Xila, the Silcolak kitchen by Boffi, was designed in 1972 by Luigi Massoni.

This act of responsibility represents the cultural and conceptual basis on which Zuccon International Project has developed the exterior concept of the new flagship of the Sanlorenzo SX series. The SX120 encapsulates ethics and a strength that puts itself beyond the outer wrapping, and beyond the operation of design as a creative act, and is increasingly a matter of “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics” and of projecting itself into the eyes of whoever merely sees it, whether in port, at anchor or at sea.

«The SX line, presented in 2017 with the SX88, opened a new chapter in international yachting. Almost ten years later, the SX120 carries this journey forward, reaffirming Sanlorenzo’s vision: to innovate with elegance, looking ahead with sensitivity and creating solutions merging beauty and sustainability».
Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman Sanlorenzo

Bernardo and Martina Zuccon have chosen Sanlorenzo, or vice versa, in the exclusivity of a process of growth and education that has yielded genuinely surprising results. “People often call architects to tell them what to do” (Frank Gehry). Other times, they do so not to tell them anything, and still other times, one calls a client to tell them what to buy. That is what the SX120 offers: a finished product, intentionally so, developed by three design groups: the knowledgeable boatbuilders at Sanlorenzo, the sophisticated Zuccon family, and the stylish, essential Piero Lissoni.

Throughout the boat, the ceilings are marked by wooden panelling, a series of dense cusps that extend vertically along the walls, creating an architectural effect of continuity and depth. Some vertical inserts have been covered with a steel-effect film, which gives a contemporary touch to the rooms. The floors alternate between parquet and carpet, while marble-effect ceramic tiles have been chosen for the bathrooms, combining aesthetics and functionality.

«The SX family, which I believe is the most creative one from the past thirty years, has had the addition of the 120. The SX120 is spectacular floating architecture. We have taken everything that the other SX boats have taught us and put it in. It has got beach areas, floors that interconnect, large openings… it is a real villa on the water, which is part of an absolutely extraordinary project, the SX».
Piero Lissoni, Lissoni & Partners

From the liner Rex to the Andrea Doria, from Poltrona Frau to Cassina, from Gio Ponti to Carlo Scarpa, and even on board the new 120-foot crossover, the story seems to repeat itself after nearly a century, with craftsmanship and customisation coming together to innovate. The new modular “Smart Island” sofa that we find on board goes well beyond the simple production of furniture, because it explores that privileged area of stylistic and technical experimentation that has allowed residential design to take to the water, but this time above a covered deck, the fourth and top one of the SX120 – it is new, and a sundeck that acquires more meaning as it delivers outdoor solutions.

The master cabin features a backlit headboard, a decorative screen that discreetly separates the sleeping area from the wardrobe, ensuring comfort and privacy.

«The new flagship of the SX line combines functionality and aesthetics, simplicity and elegance, performance and sustainability in a single product. In addition, the SX120 is the first large yacht to integrate Volvo Penta’s new IPS Professional Platform, a compact and efficient system designed for hybrid energy sources and engineered to improve performance, autonomy and comfort while sailing. This innovative propulsion platform allows for the achievement of certainly unique design solutions related to the use of efficient PODs drive even on large yachts».
Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo

With its 37-metre length, 8-metre beam and 270 gross tonnage, this crossover – a blend between an explorer and flying bridge boat – is the stylistic evolution of the preceding 112’ and the SX100. It is a boat on the boundary, in an open research environment – a frontier of convergence and intersections – where comparison and the ritual nature of building and inhabiting are adjusted through fragments of contemporary life and land-based architecture rather than yacht design. With a composition that is never suffocated by its own shapes, by its apparent monumental appearance, or worse still, by individualism, as a trace imposed by its own passage, it is instead projected into nature and into the viewer who perceives a message suspended between responsibility and the desire to please, even significantly so. It is an act of “style” and “education” in all of the disciplines involved, which are expressed through the value of authenticity, because they are the fruit of the educated reading of the history of the 20th century.

The beach area covers 70 square metres with opening side walkways, a 360° panoramic view from the upper deck and a sun deck with a configurable Smart Island. The beach area also offers owners the flexibility of a retractable pool, which can be covered or uncovered using a lifting and sliding mechanism on the sun bed, ensuring aesthetic appeal, privacy and safety when sailing.

The SX120 draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including homes, buildings and cities. She embraces a coexistence of different scales, prioritising functionality over superfluous elements and often sacrificing internal symmetry. This asymmetry on board seeks to maximise functionality and aesthetics by bringing light and space to areas that need it more than others, without compromising on either. It never neglects the real complexity of living on board, promoting new spatial and technological possibilities, especially in relation to the need for variety in visual experiences.

This is not a novelty boat seeking to break boundaries. Instead, SX120 is full of surprises, such as the internal, offset, sculptural spiral staircase that takes you on a short, dreamlike journey between decks, or the portside crane that continues the trajectory of the long carbon fibre gunwale of the upper main deck when not in use. And then there are the two extra-size sides that fold out to extend the stern beach area up to 70 square metres, or the new concept sundeck. These are small victories in linguistic and functional communication that can change the way we look at boats and the sensitivity to going beyond their apparent order to find at least a viewpoint, or a “flight” from pre-ordained schemes.

«The SX120 stands out thanks to its quality, adaptability and comfort. She can convey architectural choices and solutions that have been perfected through valuable lessons learned from the pioneers of modern architecture. Cleaning up and taking away superfluous signs, following an ethical basis and an idea that increasingly has to take into account the landscape and the responsibility in relation to anybody who might find themselves between the horizon and the boat… We often ask ourselves how every new presence on the sea, and in the panorama, is accepted and experienced…».
Bernardo e Martina Zuccon

Leaving aside the geometric set-up, one senses that there is always another dimension on board the boat, a flip side, a double, a polarity, a somewhere else that extends the physical and perceptual space. Transparency prevails in the inner spaces, which are broken up by blocks of light-coloured material and the wooden ribbing of the ceiling, or by the darker exotic woods of the bulwarks that close up areas used more at night. The master cabin is set forward on the main deck, with a central island bed, a backlit, translucent bedhead, and a perimeter of glass that closes the room.

The helm station on the bridge deck is behind a transparent screen, more like a glass showcase, where slender supports and compositional rigour evoke elegant displays by Franco Albini, flowing and weightless. There is always something, whether inside or out, that reflects a journey of decisions borrowed from a vocabulary of experiences from the 20th century, but constantly reworked and well shared. The volumes out of the water have been moved slightly towards the bow, projected forward – including at a visual level – from the reverse windscreen of the master cabin and the upper bridge deck, with angles parallel to the two “powers”, which nevertheless preserve just the memory of the weight and static support function.

Sanlorenzo SX120

The flybridge, which, for the first time on this type of yacht, transforms into an elegant sun deck. Here, the Smart Island concept is introduced: a system of modular, freely configurable seats equipped with additional features. A private, almost hidden space, a locus amoenus where you can enjoy maximum privacy.

This central body, open on four sides on the main deck, acts as a block of smoked tempered glass, joined without frames or seals, with internal uprights cleverly concealed by continuous glass walls. It does not seek to ‘envelope’ the parts, but maintains compactness and balance in the composition, which then opens up onto the sea. The upper deck, on the other hand, follows Philip Johnson’s ambiguous approach to diaphanous transparency in his ‘Glass House’, where the volume, although fixed in its stereometry, is in fact a transparent observatory overlooking the surrounding landscape. The interior of these biaxial values is set out in an open space that seeks out asymmetry, to subdivide the space through furniture complements, chosen and designed by Piero Lissoni, the arrangement of which gives life to a living room, a dining area, a play room or various interior lounges that interconnect fluidly with the exterior. The lower deck is only open aft, and houses the first filter for staff and guests. It is directly connected to the external beach area, which is well-equipped with HVAC, sofas, a washer/dryer, a wc, and a mess room. Going inside, there is a small space that can be kept open as a lounge or closed to become a cabin, as well as a small hammam and a crew area.

The lower deck houses four guest cabins, one of which can be kept open as a lounge or closed to become a cabin, a small hammam and the crew area.

We had the chance to try out the SX120 on the water, and after just a few miles, I got confirmation that it is a new-generation yacht. The naval architecture includes a significant central skeg and two Sleipner stabilising fins. The hardtop of the fly bridge is in carbon fibre, as are the over 14 metres of continuous gunwale of the main deck bulwark, while various raised sections of the deck house are in carbon fibre mix.

«In terms of propulsion, the Volvo Penta IPS Professional platform represents a technological evolution geared towards efficiency. The system makes use of steerable units with hydrodynamically-optimised counter-rotating propellers, which allow a significant reduction of energy waste, and a marked improvement in manoeuvrability, especially at low speeds». Nicola Pomi, VP Marine Sales,
Yacht and Superyacht Division

The SX120 is the first non-commercial vessel in the world to use Volvo Penta’s IPS Professional platform. This propulsion system combines efficiency, comfort and modularity. It uses four D13 engines, each developing one thousand horsepower, two for each pod, which means that in EcoMode you can do a cruising speed of ten to twelve knots and only use 100 litres of fuel per hour. Top speed is 23 knots, while economy cruising will give you a range of around 2,000 nautical miles and a reduction in fuel consumption, emissions and clutter. The Electronic Vessel Control modulates power in real time based on engine load and the operating profile, automatically activating and deactivating power sources. The pods are hydrodynamically optimised to allow a distinct improvement in manoeuvrability, especially at low speeds.

Sleipner stabilisers

The Sleipner-patented Vector Fins, with their curved profile, channel forces in a more vertical direction, achieving notably superior efficiency and much lower energy consumption than with traditional fins. The longer strokes and an extended lever arm generate more powerful stabilising forces, while the patented noise-reduction system ensures it operates much more quietly than other solutions. The fins’ special shape generates lift, reducing resistance and improving performance at constant speed, while the compact drives easily fit into the yacht’s layout. The system is effective during fast sailing and at anchor, ensuring stability in all conditions.

Volvo Penta

The IPS Professional Platform uses two engines up to 1,000-horsepower per pod, delivering performance superior to that of larger engines while occupying less space, consuming less fuel, and producing fewer emissions. This platform, designed for the modular integration of traditional and alternative energy sources, stands out for its extreme compactness and optimised propulsion architecture. These features mean that the space needed for the engine room can be significantly reduced, freeing up valuable volumes that, in the design phase, can be repurposed for the owners, guests and crew. A distinctive feature of the platform is the Eco Mode function, which optimises engine output when not operating at full power, such as during manoeuvres or at lower speeds underway. It enables automatic synchronisation of the power units, reducing the number of active engines or lowering the rev level while maintaining optimal thrust and control levels.

The Nav-Com system has been created by the Furuno Italia team, integrating the latest generation of multi-function displays, NavNet TZtouchXL. Four TZT24X 24-inch displays have been installed with added processing power and the new proprietary TZ-Maps system. These latest-generation tools include advanced functions developed by Furuno, such as AI Avoidance Route, which, thanks to artificial intelligence and in combination with the Risk Visualizer and the radar, calculates and automatically displays the safest route to avoid collisions with other boats or obstacles. Also using AI, TZ-Maps enables you to draw up point-to-point routes extremely quickly. So in just a few seconds the system posts a safe path, taking into account the characteristics of the boat and the pre-imposed safety parameters (such as minimum draught, and distance from land) The Nav-Com system includes latest-generation sensors, including the Solid State DRS12A-NXT radar, the GP-330B GPS, a SCX-20 satellite compass, the DFF1-UHD CHIRP eco sounder, and the Class D VHF DSC. Since it is a commercial yacht, the boat has been finished with Wheelmark-certified apparatus and GMDSS, including GPS GP-170 type approved, VHF FM-8900, MF/HF FS-1575 150W, Inmarsat STD-C FELCOM-18 and the Navtex NX-900 receiver. The Wheelmark-approved Furuno BNWAS BR-500 unit is also included. It is obligatory for vessels of over 150 GT, with alarm panels located in the wheelhouse, crew mess, and the captain’s and first mate’s cabins. Finishing off the radio station are some Ocean Signal safety units: EPIRB E3 PRO, the portable VHF unit GMDSS V100 and the SART Radar Transponder S100.

Spanning four decks, the SX120 has a Gross Tonnage of 270 GT, characterised by the displacement of volumes at the bow
and a cockpit at the stern entirely dedicated to activities at sea.

Sanlorenzo proudly unveils the second hull of the 74Steel, Virtuosity, a stunning custom superyacht resulting from over four years of close collaboration between its visionary owner and the shipyard. Virtuosity is built on the same engineered platform and diesel-electric system as the first hull, but features a personalised spatial design that transforms a proven technical foundation.

by Chiara Risolo

It often happens that one asks those in the trade which is the most beautiful boat ever built. The answer is always the same: ‘The next one, the one that doesn’t exist yet.’ Thus, the writer can do nothing but record ‘a romantic suspense’ which, in all likelihood, will never have a name or a form. Then, one day, something extraordinary happens – something truly out of the ordinary: the boat that wasn’t there reveals itself.

Without seeking opinions or permission, simply by observing it, one gets the distinct feeling that the romantic uncertainty mentioned above – God willing – exists. And yes, here we are. The usual narrative yearning has a name and a form: it is Virtuosity, the second vessel in Sanlorenzo’s 74Steel line. We already knew that the shipyard led by Cav. Perotti was made of the stuff of dreams, but with this new, strictly bespoke superyacht, the level of amazement has reached an all-time high.

Behind such a marvel lie four years of work, four years of close collaboration between Sanlorenzo and the owner, and four years during which Zuccon International Project, responsible for the exterior lines, and Paolo Ferrari, responsible for the interior design, have used up gram after gram of graphite on paper in search of the perfect line.

Not out of zeal, but from the heart – well done to everyone. Virtuosity is a tribute to the element of surprise. It starts with a tree – yes, ladies and gentlemen – a Ficus Nitida at the centre of the main deck, which connects two decks vertically, right through to the submerged aquarium integrated into the hull and the Ocean Resort on the lower deck, a 230-square-metre area dominated by a spectacular pool with a transparent floor.

With this yacht, we decided to rethink the on-board architecture from the ground up. Virtuosity marks a decisive step forward in how we conceive of space. From integrating living nature to transforming technical spaces into experiential environments, every choice stems from a clear architectural vision. Here, innovation is not about excess but about coherence and balance”, said Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo.

Indeed, there is a great deal of innovation here, clearly supported by courage, an unfailing driving force on the road to success. It is also underpinned by a relentless search for novel yet always practical solutions, of which the architectural practice, led by Bernardo and Martina Zuccon, is a fine example. These are the words of the former: “With Virtuosity, we have embraced a genuine shift in scale, but above all a shift in perspective. It was not simply a matter of designing the largest yacht ever built by Sanlorenzo, but of interpreting the owner’s very precise vision and translating it into naval architecture. In this sense, Virtuosity is not merely a new model, but a shared process that has allowed a personal dream to take shape within a solid and recognisable structure”. A dream that centres on “a fundamentally new vision of life at sea”, as Paolo Ferrari emphasised.

The 74Steel Virtuosity was commissioned in collaboration with Fraser Yacht, one of the world’s largest full-service yacht brokerage firms.

Let’s imagine ourselves on board. It goes without saying how iconic the Ficus Nitida is, and it’s no exaggeration to say that the yacht was conceived, designed and built around it. The tree has amplified the concept so dear to contemporary yachting (though – let’s face it – sometimes overused and insubstantial) of the continuous dialogue between nature and the vessel. In this case, we have gone far beyond that: Virtuosity is nature, and vice versa. To avoid disapproval from armchair environmentalists, it is worth noting that the tree in question was selected based on precise botanical and dimensional criteria, ensuring full compatibility with the available space and its long-term growth.

Nature takes centre stage once again on the lower deck with the Ocean Resort. This is clearly no ordinary beach area. Every inch has, in fact, been meticulously designed to ensure that guests and the owner enjoy an immersive experience in the water. One need only look at the spacious retractable side terraces, the futuristic glass-bottomed pool and the incredible Aquarium.

On the main deck, another marvel unfolds around the Ficus: elegant seating frames with views towards the bow, stern, and exterior. A triple-height atrium connects three decks via a dark-lacquered aluminium spiral staircase and a lift, creating a powerful visual and functional axis. On the starboard side, a glass wall gives way to a wine cellar. At the bow, the guest area comprises two guest cabins, a VIP cabin and the first master cabin, which measures approximately 80 square metres. It is characterised by the bed’s rotation towards the window to expand the dressing and bathroom areas, and by a window that opens to reinforce the connection with the horizon.

On the bridge deck, the highlight is a stunning 42-square-metre winter garden veranda, specifically requested by the owner and designed by the shipyard in collaboration with Zuccon Architects. It features a large formal dining table and a bar area, as well as a lounge with a walk-in wine cellar. This level also houses two further guest cabins, whilst the captain’s cabin is situated adjacent to the bridge. At the bow, the touch-and-go helipad and the sports deck enhance the yacht’s functionality without disrupting the architectural coherence.

The owner’s deck is designed as an intimate and private retreat. A cinema lounge at the stern introduces a warmer colour scheme in shades of hazelnut and brown, whilst at the bow there are approximately 140 square metres of indoor and outdoor space, including the second master cabin with its Reflecting Pool. The sensory shower, situated between the cabin and the water feature, harmonises the transition between enclosed and open spaces, reinforcing the fluidity that defines the entire yacht. Finally, the sun deck redefines the yacht’s lines through a deliberate modification of the external profile, designed to house the gym. This intervention establishes a new functional focus on the upper deck, whilst also incorporating a swimming pool and a social area at the stern for informal dining and relaxation.

Meticulous descriptions aside (more will no doubt follow), let it be noted that the boat that wasn’t there is now there.

Stefano Gabbana’s yacht, which is for sale through Ocean Independence, is an extraordinary example of Italian design, technology, and craftsmanship

by Francesco Michienzi

We have had the privilege to visit Regina d’Italia, the 65-metre superyacht built by Codecasa. As you step on board, you are immediately overwhelmed by a sense of being in a fantastical world where art and design are the absolute protagonists. The ship is a unique expression of refined, luxurious minimalism. Entering the main lounge is an extraordinary experience that leaves you stunned and full of admiration at the beauty and elegance of the works of art, as well as the magnificence of the surrounding environment. The combination of luxury, beauty, and creativity generates an unforgettable atmosphere.

Built for Stefano Gabbana, it is for sale through Ocean Independence. The superyacht is unquestionably the fruit of the owner’s vision. The same vision Gabbana has had for the luxury fashion house he founded in 1985, together with Domenico Dolce, which has always found its roots in a deep devotion to Italy and its cultural heritage. “I am deeply attached to my country of origin. I have been lucky enough to travel a lot in my life, but no place fascinates me more than Italy. Italy is one of the most ancient countries in the world – a country full of history and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for people around the world. The influence of that history is visible everywhere: in Italian fashion, architecture, art, cuisine, and in its traditions”.

The yacht’s colour palette is an intense interplay of deep blue and warm teak, culminating in a sophisticated interior inspired by the underwater world. Brazilian marble, often reserved for luxury jewellery, has been generously used across all environments.

This extraordinary yacht is genuinely unique, characterised by bold design elements, elegant lines and contemporary yet timeless interiors. Conceived in collaboration with the design studio m2atelier and with Gabbana himself, it is a showcase of artistic ambition and sensorial pleasure. The chosen colour palette is an intense interplay of deep blue and warm teak, culminating in a sophisticated interior inspired by the underwater world. Brazilian marble, often reserved for luxury jewellery, has been generously used across all environments. The rarity and elegance of the marble are enhanced by a shade of blue that intensifies as you climb the decks: lighter on the lower deck and deep, immersive blues above.

Stefano Gabbana, not surprisingly, chose an Italian shipyard to build his yacht. “Italy is the country of excellence and its ability to create collections is one of a kind, unparalleled, despite many attempting to imitate it”.

Stefano Gabbana

The main lounge is large and bright, with mirrored ceilings and blue silk enhancing the atmosphere. A flexible lighting system with telescopic spotlights lets you personalise every atmosphere. The layout includes two side sofas and a central U-shaped disposition. The dining area is dominated by a dining table, created with works by Fornasetti, and surrounded by throne-like chairs, with all the furniture cleverly functioning as containers for crystals and crockery. The floor, in light oak with dark ebony joints, adds a spectacular visual rhythm. The full beam master suite, located on the main bow deck, features floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted views and four portholes that let in the sea breeze. Mirrored ceilings amplify the sensation of space, while two separate bathrooms with Brazilian marble trim and a larger-than-standard king-size bed define the suite’s opulence.

One of the most original elements on the yacht is the series of hand gestures, reinterpreted as bronze faucets for bathrooms and sculptural elements along the staircase. Each guest cabin features a unique gesture, and the concept has even inspired the publication of a custom book on the symbolism of Italian hands.

The VIP area is composed of four symmetrical cabins: two doubles in the bow and two doubles in the stern with queen-size beds. Each cabin has a private bathroom with blue marble, mirrored ceilings, and custom technology integrations, including TVs and iPhone-synced sound systems. A sixth cabin is located just behind the captain’s cabin on the control deck, with double access from both the guest area and the crew quarters. It has a bathroom with a shower, a Pullman bed, and a large window overlooking the deck. This versatile space is ideal as a staff cabin or a bodyguard’s quarters, or can be easily adapted into a massage room.

The master suite, located on the main bow deck, extends full beam with floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted views and four portholes that let in the sea breeze. Mirrored ceilings amplify the sensation of space, while two separate bathrooms with Brazilian marble trim and a larger-than-standard king-size bed define the suite’s opulence.

The suite also has two large walk-in closets, upholstered in silk, Astrakhan, and velvet. The most playful and distinctive design element is probably the series of iconic Italian hand gestures, reinterpreted as bronze faucets for bathrooms and as sculptural elements along the staircase. Each guest cabin features a unique gesture, and the concept has even inspired the publication of a custom book on the symbolism of Italian hands. The gym on the upper deck is a masterpiece of design and functionality, with all-glass sliding doors, mirrored walls, and a blue centre dome for vertical volume, perfect for TRX, jump rope, and resistance training devices. It is equipped with free weights and an elliptical machine, and it connects to an elegant marble bathroom with a shower.

A 7-metre infinity pool with jacuzzi jets and covered in a mosaic of Brazilian marble dominates the upper deck, which is connected to all other decks by the yacht lift. An automatic filling system and a dedicated water tank optimise resource use. Eight teak sun loungers with blue cushions surround the pool, while, at night, ambient lighting transforms this area into an elegant outdoor lounge.

At aft, a fixed platform and a two-part extendable beach club create a versatile space for water access. A stainless-steel retractable shower adds convenience, and the fully finished garage can serve as a tender storage or an elegant haven by the sea. The area also includes a bathroom, a laundry room with professional washers/dryers and ample storage space.

The yacht is powered by two Caterpillar engines, which allow a cruising speed of 15 knots and a maximum speed of 18.5 knots. With 11 metres in width and a draft of 3.3 metres, this RINA-rated unit also guarantees a range of 4,300 nautical miles at 13 knots and superior navigation comfort thanks to zero-speed stabilisers.

The refitting project of Nectar is signed by Francesca Muzio, creative director of FM Architettura. The thread running through this work is a rigorous style and a deep nautical culture

by Sacha Giannini – photo by Giorgio Possenti

The only real difference today between a private yacht and a civilian home is the ‘movement’ with all its nuances of roll, pitch and vibration. Apart from the internal height and systems, everything else is largely the same, as the interior design is essentially identical. However, some people explore ‘off-catalogue’ ways of living, establishing a relationship of control with the physical and emotional spaces that will be inhabited. It is precisely in this area that Francesca Muzio’s work as creative director of FM Architettura is defined, through a cultured language of dialogue and participation that explores the boundaries of luxury, deep-sea navigation and on-board comfort.

A strong component of emotional intimacy shines through in Nectar’s interior, which opens up to cottons, raw linens and fine wood furniture, alternating with leather, metals, bronzes, sculptures and family art pieces positioned to become visual and sensory landmarks.

«We worked on this ‘grand lady’ Feadship, trying to remove not only what had been added, customised and designed for the previous owner, along with all those gold accents and contrasts that gave a perhaps too classic reading, but also to give an excellent original layout a new interpretation and reading».
Francesca Muzio

To Francesca, the boat is no longer simply a place, but rather a ‘transit’ according to which a space can also become more than a place to live, precisely like “…a caravan, a boat or a tent can also be a home” (Mary Douglas, British anthropologist). The work that FM Architettura developed in 2024 for the refit of the M/Y Nectar, formerly Callisto, a 65-metre Feadship from 2006, was the spark that lit up the indoor scene with an analysis about the role of furniture, which acts as an intermediary in the relationship between man and space and therefore offers a unique perspective on experiencing new horizons in movement. The intervention is an update of both furnishings and onboard atmospheres for a new owner who wishes to transform Callisto into Nectar, with an almost complete reinterpretation of the interiors. While maintaining the functional distribution of the original layout and structural bulkheads, the intervention changes and enhances only some of the new destinations of use.

Light plays a significant role; it becomes scenic, serviceable, and an accent for works of art, but also natural, rendering “…every moment of the day into a journey to be experienced with all the senses”.

Interiors become increasingly meaningful when furnishings, objects, and their perception are separated from the external space – in this case, the sea – and a direct dialogue is established through continuous daily practices. Some design gestures that Francesca skilfully employs anticipate the emergence of these ‘rules’ of living and structure, with carefully studied interpretative hierarchies, the internal dimensions, and relationships of the living space. It is precisely this structuring or putting so that allows you to take possession of a space and make it home, because the sense of living is also about putting things together according to a certain logic, which is not always rational, but at times instinctive and random, made of details and ‘things’ that transform the place into a filter of rhythms, pauses, placements and displacements. Interiors are not just the space in which we settle down, “the internal surface of the casing”, as Aristotle argued, but rather the interval to cover between suggestions and sequences of images.

The project makes precise choices that become the expression of a personal diversity, but also of adherence to a more collective identity composed of customs, rituals, and habits.

Living in a boat, a house, or a hotel room means giving it character, equipping it with things, furnishings, attention, compliments and meaningful objects that declare a presence. However, it also means using it to perform different functions or the same tasks in various ways. Without all this, it isn’t easy to understand where we are, precisely because we express ourselves through all these things and allow them to represent us. On this principle, Francesca Muzio has developed a particular refit that highlights aspects of uniqueness and depth in a fitting solution, which is an almost biographical outline of the client intertwined with her creativity. And then there is something magical about all these things, because they become symbolic vectors, expressions of participation in a space in which they are placed.

The textile coverings of the bulkheads are textured materials that intertwine with other fine fabrics by Dedar and Loro Piana, with synthetic rattan, pure cashmere and then again with terracotta colours, blue, mahogany, American oak, desks, sofas, coffee tables, game and dining tables, all designed by FM Architettura to tell a story of dreams, future journeys and suggestions drawn from different cultures or from the ship’s “pre-existing” features.

The realisation of the refit employed the tradition, art, and expertise of Made-in-Italy production from Le Marche, the technique and top quality of Dutch artistry in the Feadship yard, where every detail and finish highlights an idea of balance between artisanal and industrial production and the creative discipline of design that Francesca uses and interprets as a binding substance, direction, and originality. Her interior design proposal, however, is not simply a selection of choices or a custom-made production of objects conceived and made for the occasion. It is, rather, the construction of cultural scenarios and connections that evoke familiar atmospheres, allowing one to live in normality, within the habits of the owner, without ever dissolving those convivial cadences typical of any home. Above all, it is about avoiding homologated, neutral, and temporary episodes. On board, everything is connected in a custom-made domestic everyday pace, which, in the texture, weave, and pattern of an upholstery, of a fabric, a bulkhead, a contrast, the shape of a designed piece of furniture or a purchased object, takes on new interpretations and readings.

«It was not just a ‘cleaning’ job, but an enhancement and flexibility
of use for each area of the ship, made of rhythms and shared, personal and playful moments».
Francesca Muzio

The SD132 is a habitat that responds in a refined and sensitive way to the needs of a discerning owner. This project redefines the concept of living on a boat and demonstrates the value of a design that is welcoming, timeless and adaptable

by Francesco Michienzi – photo by ®Guillaume Plisson for Sanlorenzo

I had the pleasure of trying out the Sanlorenzo SD132, which was an impressive experience that made me reflect on sailing and appreciate the high quality of this pleasure boat. Speed brings an adrenaline rush and intense emotions, but it doesn’t allow you to travel far or enjoy the journey fully. However, with a yacht that can travel over 3,000 miles on a single tank of fuel and sail slowly, it’s a very different story: the world opens up before you, and you can choose what to see. With a well-designed hull, the sea becomes less frightening and you know you will always make it back to land – although you may not want to, as the magic of slow sailing and the sea will captivate you forever. This unique experience allows you to fully appreciate details and sensations that would otherwise be fleeting.

The main deck also features a spacious saloon with large windows, complemented by a second saloon on the upper deck.

Sailing slowly enables you to live in the moment with calmness and mindfulness, providing a sense of peace and tranquillity. This is precisely what the SD132 superyacht can offer. The flagship of Sanlorenzo’s semi-displacement line was designed by Zuccon International Project, who were responsible for both the exterior and interior design. Measuring 40.7 metres in length, this is the largest recreational vessel that the shipyard has built using composite materials. The hull and deck are made of resin and fibreglass, and the superstructure is made of a hybrid of fibreglass and carbon fibre, which optimises weight and improves stability.

A focus on texture characterises the interior spaces. Soft colours and materials emphasise the tactile experience, allowing you to concentrate on the feel of antique oak, bleached walnut and linen.

«The interiors reflect the Studio’s stylistic approach, which is aimed at enhancing a sense of naturalness and creating a sensory connection between the owner and the boat. A material moodboard and earth-inspired colours come together to create authentic, balanced and welcoming environments. The exteriors also demonstrate our commitment to research, with innovative layout solutions and technological flexibility that perfectly integrate the boat with its surroundings, emphasising the liveability of the spaces». Bernardo Zuccon

The quality of construction must necessarily be combined with aesthetic excellence. The SD132 represents a significant evolution in Zuccon International Project’s design process with Sanlorenzo, blending architectural styles and materials to provide an authentic and functional onboard experience. Harmonious proportions characterise the yacht’s profile. As Bernardo Zuccon said, “The interiors reflect the Studio’s stylistic approach, which is aimed at enhancing a sense of naturalness and creating a sensory connection between the owner and the boat. A material moodboard and earth-inspired colours come together to create authentic, balanced and welcoming environments. The exteriors also demonstrate our commitment to research, with innovative layout solutions and technological flexibility that perfectly integrate the boat with its surroundings, emphasising the liveability of the spaces”.

The lower deck houses four guest cabins, the crew area with a dinette and laundry room, and a large 55 m² master cabin located at the bow of the main deck.

Sanlorenzo SD132

The exterior design, created by Zuccon International Project, is characterised by absolute balance, lending visual harmony to the concept of asymmetry. On this boat, the main deck walkway is positioned on the left and the upper deck walkway on the right, balancing the weights and optimising the volumes.

The design is fresh and innovative without venturing into unfamiliar territory for the brand. During the day, the profile is strongly defined by the dark, sparkling window frames, which make the overall design appear slender. At night, with all the lights on, the number and size of the windows can be fully appreciated, offering light, views and very close contact with the sea. Once you are on board, you will notice that the carefully designed layout makes it easy to move around each deck and communicate with other decks. The main deck walkway is on the left and the upper deck walkway is on the right, balancing the weight and optimising the space. This configuration rationalises the spaces on board, interconnecting the decks and facilitating vertical walkways to make the most of the available space.

In addition to its generous volumes and spaces and the configuration of the beach area, the SD132 also stands out thanks to the vast 85 m² fly deck.

Bernardo Zuccon explains: “From the outset, our goal was not to impress through ostentation, but to create humble environments in the truest sense: authentic, essential spaces. Every choice, from the materials to the geometries, was guided by the concept of sensory design, where the material speaks, the light accompanies, and touch becomes the primary means of perceiving the project. I always invite people to come on board and close their eyes. It is in the silence of the view that the true soul of the SD132 is revealed. One of the boat’s most distinctive features is undoubtedly its asymmetrical layout, representing the natural evolution of a research project that began with the SL line and has been further developed here. We chose to break with classic symmetry by creating an asymmetrical main deck on the starboard side and an asymmetrical upper deck on the port side. This is not just an aesthetic quirk, but a functional solution that optimises interior space, increases usable outdoor areas and improves perception of the rooms. This approach generates fluid dynamics on board and creates a continuous visual and perceptual dialogue between the rooms”.

«We are thrilled about the launch of the SD132 project, which perfectly embodies significant size, innovative design and timeless elegance in true Sanlorenzo style. The exceptional market response is evident in the five contracts already signed before the launch, demonstrating the significant success and appreciation that this boat enjoys among owners. Every detail of the SD132 reflects the commitment and passion of our team, who have once again pushed the boundaries of traditional space and volume, achieving a remarkable result».
Tommaso Vincenzi, Ceo Sanlorenzo

The SD132 is much more than just a boat; it is a habitat designed to respond in a refined and sensitive manner to the needs of an owner with discerning tastes, seeking a profound balance between function, emotion, and aesthetics. SD132, in the first unit, offers environments and a stylistic language inspired by the colours of the earth and nature itself, seeking to make the on-board experience more authentic. The interior spaces are characterised by an exploration of materials, with soft colours and textures that stimulate the senses, enabling you to focus on the tactile experience. The interior spaces are characterised by a focus on materiality, with soft colours and textures that stimulate the senses, allowing you to enjoy the tactile experience. This philosophy is evident throughout, from the concrete-like finish to the bathroom furniture and the master cabin, where dark and light woods have been skilfully combined. The same criteria have been applied to the choice of fabrics, which give the rooms an exceptional warmth and texture. Of course, the importance of sustainability in the selection of materials has not been forgotten.

Sanlorenzo SD132

Historically designed as a technical area, the bow has been transformed into a living space enriched by a swimming pool, which contributes to the beauty and well-being of life on board.

The spaces on board are optimised and the interconnected decks facilitate vertical walkways, making the most of the interior volumes. The lower deck houses four guest cabins, the crew area with a dinette and laundry room, and a large 55 m² master cabin located at the bow of the main deck. The main deck also features a spacious saloon with large windows, complemented by a second saloon on the upper deck. The large beach area is characterised by its interconnection with the aft cockpit. Once rotated and opened, the side terraces offer guests 70 m² of walkable space and free the cockpit from any visual obstructions. This transforms the cockpit into an open terrace, allowing guests to enjoy maximum connection with the sea. Designed to accommodate 10 guests and eight crew members, the SD132 is a solid, traditional Sanlorenzo semi-displacement yacht capable of reaching even the most distant destinations with significant autonomy. With a range of 3,200 miles, this yacht is ideal for transoceanic navigation.

Engine room

The Engineering Department’s naval architecture has resulted in a hull with reduced hydrodynamic resistance, enabling the 315-tonne yacht to travel at a maximum speed of 17 knots with two 1,622-horsepower CAT C32 engines.

Benetti presents the newest hybrid addition to its fleet, the 40-metre B.Neos. An expression of a refined, forward-thinking vision of life at sea, combining profound yachting and engineering experience.

Giovanna Vitelli, Chair of Azimut Benetti Group, said: “Today’s owners seek a return to what truly matters: a lifestyle defined by essentiality, harmony, and peace of mind. With B.Neos, we didn’t just design a new product; we rethought the entire ownership experience to remove complexity and bothers. We chose proportion over volume and used technology to eliminate redundancy. The result is a yacht inspired by the intelligence of sailing — with a sleek, low-profile silhouette and a perfect balance. It is informal in spirit and authentic in its connection to the water, yet unmistakably a Benetti in presence and status”.

Developed by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design B.Neos captures the essential purity and balanced proportions of a sailing yacht, seamlessly integrated with the superior comfort of a motor yacht. This purpose-driven approach results in a sleek, low-profile silhouette that avoids ostentation in favour of a timeless elegance.

Malcom Mckeon Yacht Design: “In designing B.Neos, our aim was to strike a balance between being contemporary, elegant, and timeless. We worked to translate the aesthetic purity of a sailing yacht into this motor yacht’s layout, keeping the profile low and the lines as essential as possible. The focus remained on balanced proportions and a constant dialogue with the environment—using expansive glass and low bulwarks so that, whether you are seated or moving about the yacht, the connection with the sea is never interrupted”.

The exterior lines find their perfect match in the interiors by Francesca Muzio, FM Architettura, where every space is designed to feel personal rather than monumental — favouring warmth, tactility, and lived-in comfort over formal perfection. The result is a welcoming environment that refocuses priorities, restoring a deeper, more authentic connection to people and nature. Within its 296 GT, the design maximizes spatial efficiency, offering a contemporary lifestyle for owners seeking a seamless transition between their life ashore and their time at sea.

Francesca Muzio, FM Architettura: “For B.Neos, the vision was to rediscover the purity of yachting by removing complexity and reclaiming a true sense of freedom at sea. Central to this is openness, with ‘whole spaces’ that unite people and offer stunning, unobstructed views from the aft to the galley. We envisioned an organic flow that shifts from a ‘polished, artificial aesthetic’ to a warmer, more homey atmosphere. Using a palette of light wood, glass, and neutral surfaces, we created a personal canvas for Owners to enhance with their own memories. The result is a singular, flexible environment where intimacy and social life coexist—a true home for exploring the world”.

Quality of life on board

The hybrid technology is not an optional add-on but the core of its naval architecture, specifically designed to prioritize comfort and quality of life. This integrated approach transforms the experience on board: family lunches can be enjoyed in total silence, free of exhaust fumes and vibration, where the sound of the ocean and fresh sea air are the only accompaniments. By significantly minimizing noise through its advanced propulsion, the yacht ensures an atmosphere of undisturbed calm whether at anchor or underway.

This refined onboard experience is powered by an integrated system based on twin MAN V8-800 engines, offering maximum operational flexibility. The yacht shifts seamlessly through its operating modes: Zero-Emission and Hotel Mode for silent electric power, Diesel-Electric and Crossover for optimized fuel efficiency, and Boost Mode for instant torque and effortless manoeuvring. Efficiency is further enhanced by a purpose-driven technical ecosystem. Onboard technology enables a 30% reduction in energy consumption compared to a vessel of the same size.

By designing this as a single, standard solution from the start, B.Neos eliminates the need for future upgrades and allows for a compact engine room, freeing up valuable guest space in the aft cockpit and ensuring the yacht sits closer to the water.

On B.Neos, technology is the foundation of a fully integrated ecosystem designed to simplify life on board, incorporating solutions such as advanced home automation and ultra-fast connectivity via 5G and Starlink. This smart evolution introduces Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence into yacht management: through smart glasses or tablets, the crew can “see” behind surfaces, while a central hub shares real-time operational data with the Shipyard. This allows Benetti to provide remote, real-time guidance to identify and resolve any issues, ensuring total reliability.

Contemporary superyacht

B.Neos shifts the focus toward a more authentic and informal way of living, where the luxury of time and closeness to nature are prioritized through uncomplicated, fluid spaces.

The long, lazy aft pool area flows effortlessly into the Sea Atrium, a light-filled 2.4-metre high space enclosed by floor-to-ceiling glass walls. This seamless transition from sea to interior reimagines the beach club, transforming it into a social hub, a theme that continues throughout the interiors. The ultimate expression of this shared way of life is the Family Kitchen: an open, intimate space where family meals are shared just like at home ashore, making it the social heart of the yacht. The setting and open plan design means it doesn’t require the constant presence of crew – although the galley area can be separated with a sliding glass partition for more formal dining occasions.

Locating the wheelhouse forward on the main deck means the upper deck can serve as the Owner’s deck complete with private, panoramic Owner’s apartment forward – a proposition for a yacht of this style and size, and a feature more typically reserved for yachts of 60 metres. This exceptional space offers absolute privacy between sea and sky with a 270-degree view. A stair leads guests up to the Observation Deck with its large, inviting sunpad nestled atop the yacht.

Peace of Mind, vessel under control

For this modern owner, true luxury lies in control without complexity. The Peace of Mind programme was conceived to protect the yacht’s long-term value while eliminating operational concerns through a comprehensive ecosystem of services. This experience is built on three strategic key elements: Technical Services, including preventive maintenance, extended warranty, and remote monitoring to ensure asset preservation; Operational Management, supported by a dedicated Crew Academy, ensuring teams are fully aligned with B.Neos’ hybrid and stabilization systems; and Lifestyle & Turnkey Services. Through Yachtique, the interior design division of Azimut Benetti Group, turnkey solutions are designed, supplied, and managed—from linens and tableware to lifestyle accessories—ensuring the yacht is always prepared for the owner.

This vision culminates in Yacht as a Service (YaaS): a contemporary approach where yacht and services are integrated into a single, managed five-year solution, redefining the experience of yacht ownership.

B.Neos introduces a smarter way of life where evolved simplicity, purposeful design, technological innovation and silent cruising come together to meet the desires of contemporary owners.

Numarine has launched the first model of the 40MXP, the 40-metre flagship of the XP series. With a beam of 8.02 metres and a gross tonnage of 379 GT, it has volumes typical of larger yachts. The external profile is classic in its proportions but contemporary in its style, with strong lines. The interior and exterior design is the work of Can Yalman.

Simply imagining sailing aboard a superyacht like this is an extraordinary experience. As you cruise through the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean, you can enjoy a powerful sense of freedom, breathtaking views and the luxury and comfort that only a yacht of this size can offer. You could sunbathe on the deck, take a dip in the turquoise waters, or anchor in secluded coves. You could also explore different coastal destinations, visit enchanting islands, and dock at exclusive seaside resorts.

The Numarine 40MXP’s main saloon is spacious and bright. Carefully designed, it is a canvas on which every owner can express their lifestyle.

Ömer Malaz, President of Numarine, commented: “The 40MXP maintains the same styling cues and DNA as all our models. It follows our philosophy of large volumes, ease of use, and ample cruising range, while offering a variety of new design features that strengthen the connection between yacht and sea”. The acronym MXP stands for Mediterranean Explorer. This reflects the lifestyle and mindset of those who enjoy the outdoors to the fullest on the sea, which is why the outdoor spaces are designed to offer maximum comfort and contact with the sea.

The 40MXP offers various customisable layouts, including a sky lounge or a private deck for the owner, as well as 4-5 guest cabins,
a laundry room and an extra refrigerator. A cinema room
is also available on request.

Compared to the 37XP from which it is derived, the aft deck has been significantly enlarged thanks to an increase in hull length and a slight forward displacement of the sliding saloon doors at the rear. The result is a spacious area housing a large outdoor dining area, a bar and a lounge surrounding an infinity pool, where the water appears to blend seamlessly with the sky and sea. The beach club can be shaded with an awning, which is ideal for warmer climates. The Numarine 40MXP’s main saloon is spacious, bright and carefully designed.

The master cabin has optimal privacy. It also has a large desk that allows the owner to work in quiet.

Thanks to the endless customisation possibilities, it is a canvas on which every owner can express their lifestyle. The full-height windows accentuate the symbiosis with the surrounding environment by multiplying the natural light, an effect that is further enhanced by the use of large light-coloured surfaces. The overnight accommodation has been carefully designed. The master cabin, which occupies the full width of the vessel, is located at the bow of the main deck, offering beautiful views and optimal privacy. The office in the master cabin has a large desk, allowing you to work in complete tranquillity. The perfectly integrated and discreetly positioned galley offers quality appliances and ample workspace, allowing you to enjoy effortless gourmet experiences at sea. Every Numarine yacht is the result of a meticulous engineering design, combined with high-level craftsmanship and precision. The 40-metre displacement hull, which boasts impressive technical and formal features, was designed by Marine Design of Umberto Tagliavini, long-standing naval architecture partners. The standard propulsion system comprises two 800 hp MAN engines, and there is an option to upgrade to two 900 hp MAN engines that comply with Tier III standards.

Can Yalman is the leading designer of both the exterior and interior of the yacht. Umberto Tagliavini is the author of the naval architecture and engineering.

The maximum speed is 14 knots, with a cruising speed of 12 knots. The yacht has a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 8 knots. Particular attention has also been paid to the draught: the hull has a depth below the waterline of 2.51 metres. The dashboard is highly sophisticated in terms of its equipment and electronic systems for controlling and managing the various on-board systems. It is very rational and typical
of a pleasure boat.

The 40MXP has been designed to combine a sense of adventure with a Mediterranean lifestyle. Its open decks and lounge areas are perfect for relaxed sailing in good company. Every Numarine yacht is brought to life through meticulous engineering and craftsmanship.
